Within “Disability Inclusion and Accessibility: An introduction to de-constructing ableism,” nonprofit professionals community members are invited to build increased knowledge around living as a disabled person in the United States, tenets of disability culture, and the intersections between ableism and racism in modern society. Participants are provided with resources around increasing accessibility and inclusion within community settings and interpersonal interactions, increasing disabled community members’ access to community spaces, as well as opportunities to work, volunteer, and build relationships with others within these spaces.
Jessie Calero (she/her/hers) is a life-long resident of New Mexico who earned her Bachelor and Master of Arts degrees from the University of New Mexico. With over 10 years of experience in nonprofit leadership and fundraising, Jessie serves as director of development within a disability organization based in the South Valley of Albuquerque. She enjoys freelance writing and fussing with houseplants in her spare time. As an Autistic woman, Jessie also provides training focused on ableism and its impacts to nonprofit organizations and community businesses that want to prioritize accessibility, inclusivity, and universal design.
